California has reached nationwide fame for marijuana cultivation businesses. The question is where within California is there a clear leader. Some would consider Humboldt County due to its history and precedence set for this industry.
A spokesman for Cali Select would argue that the answer is not as clear. In the article by Marijuana Business Daily, the answer is described in detail why it might be too early to crown a leader in cannabis cultivation. “One area that has the infrastructure to put out the volume, versus an area that has the climate to put out the quality” was one of the key points brought up by Cali Select.
It’s really too early to say who’s going to be producing more. At some point, it’s going to come down to efficiencies. Once the profit margins get crushed, it’s going to be a question of who can produce more for less.
The conversation shifted to discussing how southern California farms have a distinct advantage by not having square foot limitations on their farms compared to places like Mendocino County where Cali Select operates. The response to overcoming that disadvantage has to do with branding which includes the reputation of the product, a core value of Cali Select.
